Every year LOGS gathers financial donations from local businesses and governments to purchase brand new books for each preschool to Grade 7 student in the Hazeltons.
The book collection is displayed at a place where classroom teachers have a chance to choose a book for each of their students. The books are then gift wrapped by a group of community volunteers at the annual Wrap and Rap event.
Before Christmas, Santa and his helpers visit the schools. They give each student a gift wrapped book that has been selected for their reading level and interests.
This has been a very popular project for over 20 years. In recent years this project has been stewarded by our community partner, Storytellers' Society. They have taken the lead on the fundraising as well as organizing the book selection by teachers, hosting the Wrap and Rap, and coordinating the delivery with the schools.
