Talk Around the Clock

This is a workshop style presentation for anyone who interacts with babies and children. It is based on research that draws a link between language skills and literacy. The premise is that if children have stronger language skills they will find it easier to access print. Children who are exposed to a rich language model will develop better language skills. 

Talk Around the Clock outlines ways in which caregivers can enrich their children's language environments by:

increasing the amount of language they model;

giving children many chances to take turns in language interactions;

and expanding on what their children say.

Talk Around the Clock shares ways to imbed these enrichment strategies in day to day family life. The methods learned in Talk Around the Clock are also effective in second language learning and Indigenous Language learning environments.
